Lifelong Medical Care has embarked on a $13 million dollar expansion of its West Berkeley health center into a new three-story addition.  The clinic operates out of a historic landmarked building at 2031 Sixth Street.

On hand to break ground on Oct 21 were supporters, friends and community officials. Dignitaries included: Marty Lynch, LifeLong Executive Director; Darryl Moore, City Council member District 2; and Mayor Tom Bates. State Assembly member Nancy Skinner made a pitch for contributions.  The capital campaign has raised more than $1.5 million towards their $2.1 million goal.  Everyone is invited to join the campaign team and/or give online at www.lifelongmedical.org

DANCING IN THE STREETS

Rockridge Street Fair

My husband Fred was helping me take down signs on our way home from my Sunday open house at 415 63rd Street www.415-63rd.com in Rockridge.  Suddenly we found ourselves in the middle of a party…

User-friendly Rockridge retail district had moved to the middle – middle of the street, that is. Independently-owned stores, restaurants and local groups hosted the entire neighborhood during a street fair Sunday, October 9.  We were instantly drawn into the festivities.

Delicious food and drinks were ours to sample as we walked along College Avenue, from Alcatraz all the way up to Manila Avenue. Our favorite highlights included young circus arts performers and the wellness area, where you could get a massage. We loved the music and festive atmosphere.
