Berkeley Community Fund www.berkfund.org recently hosted an evening of conversation addressing the complex Barriers to Social Mobility & Educational Opportunity.
Featured guests included Christopher Edley, former dean of UC Berkeley School of Law and a leading figure in Democratic Policy circles. Joining him was Maria Echaveste, former advisor to President Bill Clinton and one of the highest ranking Latinas to serve in a presidential administration. The conversation was monitored by Jill Tucker, education reporter for The SF CHRONICLE. The event was held at the Berkeley home of two BCF supporters.
BCF provides four-year scholarships, mentoring and support for academically talented and resilient Berkeley High School students. The awards ceremony for this year’s 27 scholarship winners is Monday, June 13, 6-8pm, Berkeley City Club, Berkeley.
