Authors Dinner
The Berkeley Public Library Foundation www.bplf.org is currently dedicated to raising funds to refurbish the four branch libraries. Measure FF, the bond measure passed by Berkeley voters in 2008, provides money for the neighborhood libraries, but cannot pay for furniture, fixtures and equipment (FF&E). The library foundation’s campaign covers those items. The major BPLF fund-raising event is the Annual Authors dinner. Photos below were taken at the 9th Annual Authors Dinner held in the Reading Room and the Historic Lobby of the Central Library at 2090 Kittredge Street. http://www.berkeleypubliclibrary.org/

By the way, Thacher Hurd’s new book Bongo Fishing for middle-grade kids was published earlier this month. Here is the trailer for Thacher’s book on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CKFybzvI4SU
Red Sonkers Book Club

Members of the Red Sonkers Book Club volunteered to greet and assist guests at the Authors’ Dinner. All of them worked summers for UC Alumni Camp Lair of the Golden Bear. They have remained friends since then and formed their own book club. Several are UC Berkeley graduates. (from left) Kathleen Cain, Katy Anderson, Liz Atkinson, Joanna Nelle, Carlyn Graber and Bonnie Forbes.

The 9th Annual Authors dinner was dedicated to the memory of Pat Cody and Harry Weiniger. Harry was my very first client in real estate when I began my career in 1986. He will be missed.
